Cestui que trust
A phrase that is derived from medieval England and adopted by French law, Cestui que trust can be translated as “he for who the benefit of the trust was created”. This term is an antiquated word used to describe a beneficiary of a trust.
A beneficiary is a person for whose benefit trust property is held by another, the trustee. A beneficiary may be a natural person, a company or other legal entity. The beneficiary under a trust has an equitable interest in the trust property and the trustee is subject to the administration of the trust in their best interests.
